City of the Village of Clarkston and 52-2 District Court
Located in northern Oakland County is the Village of Clarkston, which plays home to only 882 people over its 1/2 square mile of area. Established in 1884 Clarkston is part of Independence Township and borders Springfield Township and Waterford Township. Clarkston is located well for commuters, seeing as it is in close proximity to I-75 and Dixie Highway.
LandmarksThe downtown area of Clarkston has been designated a National Historical Site, and houses a variety of shops, restaurants and businesses. Henry Ford kept his summer home, which still stands, in Clarkston in the early 1900's. The area is also close to the DTE Energy Music Theatre and Pine Knob Ski Resort. The DTE Music Theatre is a 15,274-seat amphitheater and holds concerts by some of the world's biggest names in music, while Pine Knob Ski Resort offers a great getaway for ski enthusiasts.
