Eastpointe and the 38th District Court
Bordering Detroit north of 8 mile is the City of Eastpointe. The city is 5.1 square miles, and as of 2000, home of some 34,000 people. For some time, Eastpointe was incorporated as the City of East Detroit. However, there became a fear that the city's civic identity was being swallowed by its much larger neighbor; the City of Detroit. To gain its own personality, the city reincorporated as Eastpointe in 1992. Nonetheless, the city's school district is still called East Detroit Public Schools. Eastpointe operates under a council-manager government form. Eastpointe has four council members and a mayor, all of which are elected at large. Eastpointe is accessible by many prominent county transportation routes including I-94, I-696, 8 mile, and 9 mile. Eastpointe is located close to many metro-recreation areas including Metro Park and Lake St. Clair.
Serving the City of Eastpointe is the 38th District Court, located at 16101 Nine Mile Road, Eastpointe, Michigan 48021. The Court's judge is the Honorable Carl F. Gerds III. Traffic ticket fines and fines/costs generally owed to the Eastpointe Court can be paid online via credit card here. Additionally, the court offers case lookup information here.
