Pontiac and the 50th District Court
The county seat of Oakland County lies in Pontiac, which is home to 59,515 people and stretches over 20 square miles in area. Named after the Ottawa Chief Pontiac the city was Michigan's first inland settlement when it was incorporated in 1861. Surrounding Pontiac are Auburn Hills, Waterford, Bloomfield Township and Waterford Township.
LandmarksPontiac was once known for it's bustling streets and thriving businesses. With its central location, the city brought big business, including General Motors to the area north of Detroit. General Motors plants lined the cityscape. The Pontiac Silverdome was home to the Detroit Lions football team for decades before the team moved to downtown Detroit in 2002. Recently however, Pontiac has been more of a nightlife destination for those living in the area. Clutch Cargo's, being one of the most popular spots, is located just outside of the downtown area.
