The 44th District Court and Royal Oak
The City of Royal Oak was incorporated in 1921 and is located in southeastern Oakland County. Royal Oak is home to 57,236 people, who, along with a large influx of visitors, enjoy a variety of restaurants along both Main and Washington in well-respected downtown Royal Oak. Most come to Royal Oak for the abundant nightlife, which spans the entire downtown area and attracts celebrities who are shooting movies in the area. Downtown Royal Oak offers restaurants that boast food from all over the world, from the Middle East to the Far East, and from Europe to North America. The 11.8 square miles of the city border Clawson, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge and Birmingham.
LandmarksAlso located in the Royal Oak area is the Detroit Zoo, which offers a great family environment. From the Tauber Railroad to the Giraffe Encounter, visitors to the Detroit Zoo will enjoy a variety of attractions and have the opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with many of the animals housed at the Zoo. Closer too all the action in Downtown Royal Oak is the wide array of restaurant options. Bastone serves food with a Belgian twist, but their brewed in-house beer is where they really excel. If seafood is on your menu, check out Lily's Seafood on Washington.
Every year the Woodward Dream Cruise takes over the area, which includes most of Royal Oak. The event brings over 1.5 million people to the cities that border Woodward Avenue, and 40,000 classic cars that come from all over the world.
