Most Michigan traffic violations are classified as "civil infractions" and are non-criminal. A speeding ticket is a civil infraction. Others may be classified as "criminal" or "misdemeanors". Misdemeanor traffic violations include Reckless Driving, Driving While License Suspended (DWLS), Leaving the Scene of an Accident (LSPDA) and Drunk Driving (OWI).
